PTL International

Since the first International Headquarters was opened in London, England in 1914, The Pocket Testament League (PTL) has been represented in countries around the world.

This spread from its founding roots in Birmingham, England the home of Helen Cadbury was driven in the early years by her husband Charles Alexander. He travelled the world holding evangelistic campaigns with Dr Wilbur Chapman and Dr R A Torrey. They gave out Pocket Testaments to all who responded to the gospel and so the seed was sown not only in the lives of those individuals, but through them into the different lands visited.

At one point in the mid 20th Century PTL was active in up to 22 countries around the world. Now at the beginning of the 21st century we are still active in 11 countries. In the UK, PTL has adopted the new working name, Bridge-Builders, from January 2004. The passion has been and remains to see individuals’ lives changed by the power of the written word of God – The Bible.

Australia

An active programme of church visiting and scripture distribution is carried out by the faithful team under the leadership of the Field Director Stephen Downie.

Supporters of the League in Australia are also passionately committed to supporting the work of TPTL Thailand. Funds are raised for Thai gospels, and short term teams are sent from Australia, to work alongside the Thai evangelist.

Through this link a new opportunity has opened into Myanmar and gospels are now being produced for the country formerly known as Burma.

Canada

The mission of PTL Canada is to bring a new found enthusiasm to their members to truly fulfil the pledge to "carry, read and share" the Gospel of John under the new leadership of their Chairman Peter Ruttimann. They encourage members to distribute gospels through organised events such as Valentines Breakfast and Spring Festival and Concert.

France

There is also a league in France that distribute free gospels.   Their website is : www.ltp-france.fr

Germany

The Tascenbibelbund (TBB) has been involved in Scripture distribution in Germany for over 80 years. They have close links with another Bible distribution agency through their chairman Hans Greiff, and make pocket scriptures available for personal evangelism through church meetings and conferences.

Holland

The Zak Bijbel Bond (ZBB) encourages Dutch Christians to keep Christian literature available to give away to their neighbours. It works in partnership with like minded organisation ‘Gospels for Guests’, and together they provide pocket gospels and other literature in many different languages.

India

Numerically PTL India is the largest of all the PTL teams worldwide. Under the leadership of PC Alexander a team of over 240 are involved in evangelism and church planting. This is mainly in the North, Harayana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, with a smaller team in Tamil Nadu in the South.

Team members are prepared for ministry through theological and practical training offered by their own Institute of Mission Studies. Alice Alexander leads a ladies Prayer Ministry team that meets daily to pray not only for their work in India but all of the League family around the world and their supporters.

Pakistan

PTL Pakistan is run on  a part time basis by Raja Alexander Roberts, who runs his own Christian School in Lahore. He provides pocket gospels in Urdu for local churches. He also makes them available through conferences.

Serbia

PTL in Serbia operates from the KES Centre in Backi Petrovac, 1 hour north of Belgrade. The centre has been home for the relief work to refugees in the area, which has been heavily supported by Oak Hall Ministries. The KES (Christian Education Centre) is also home to a radio outreach ministry and work amongst local children and young people.

With the change in the political situation and various changes in the use of the buildings the team under the leadership of Ondrej Franka and Vladimir Majersky are looking to God for guidance in the next step of their ministry.

Spain

Under the leadership of PTL Evangelist Esther Rodriquez the Liga Do Testamento de Bolso (LTB) works mainly among children and young people. Esther began the ministry of the ‘Evangelistic Olympics’ some years ago, an idea which has been copied around the world. Teams of children from churches all over Spain gather together to compete and a Christian athlete presents the prizes. These are held twice a year, with Barcelona and Madrid the planned venues for 2006.

During the summer a large team of young people join Esther to bring a holiday club to different towns and villages, working alongside the local church. Throughout the rest of the year LTB support children’s outreach in different churches.

Thailand

The PTL evangelists are Somchai and Saengthong Soonthornturasuk. Based in Bangkok they have a ministry not only to students and residents in the city, but also to the hill tribes in the North near Chang-Mai. From Christmas into the New Year they hold a regular outreach campaign and work in partnership with teams from Australia.

USA

Operating under the name ‘readcarryshare.org’ TPTL USA are recruiting thousands of Christians from all over the States to carry pocket gospels and release the ‘power in their pocket’ by praying for an opportunity to share their faith and give it away.

They then share their stories by e-mail and these are posted onto the website for the mutual encouragement of others
